INNOVATIVE IDEAS, TRANSLATIONAL RESEARCH AND COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION
Fifty percent of our available funds are applied to investigator-initiated research projects that focus on highly innovative ideas, translational research, and community participation and address the following topics:
PROGRAM-DIRECTED INITIATIVES
The remaining 50 percent of our yearly funding is set aside for program-initiated research on the critical topic of policy research and the prevention of breast cancer and expanding on the research from the program's existing Special Research Initiatives, which examine the role of the environment in breast cancer and the reasons behind the unequal burden of the disease. By narrowing our focus to the areas where we have the greatest impact, we continue to lead the nation in meaningful advances against breast cancer and provide applicants with strong opportunities for success.
